"Virtual YouTuber" Design
This design was meant to be the base design for a Virtual YouTuber (or VTuber) Live2D model. The goal was to create a design that was simple for the model rigger and artist to work with while still being appealing. My approach was to make something cute with some slightly unconventional qualities to it. As such, I went with a fitting inspiration in the Tasmanian Devil, one of my favorite animals.

Keeping in line with the looks of the real animal, I went with a dog-like, short, stout character as the base, and added certain character traits as I went on. From here I went with some slightly edgier aspects to compliment the cuter base design, such as the angular shirt graphic and embroidered jacket. I also wanted to represent the loud, boisterous, aggressive disposition of the real animal somewhere in how the character expresses themselves. It seemed appropriate to have the animal's iconic disposition match with the design's angry expression to be the most visually distinct on the model sheet.
Werehyena Gang
These three characters are a group of Werehyenas with each meant to portray a very different personality while still remaining visually cohesive. Wanting to keep the designs varied, I based the characters off of different species of Hyena (Spotted, Brown, and the Aardwolf specifically). The main motif I wanted to keep across their designs was the punkish aesthetic in their attire and their mannerisms.

Ramesses "Ramses" XIII
Ramses was designed as a young mummy living in the modern age with ties to his pharaoh's lineage. The gold and black in his color scheme is meant to be bright, contrasting, and a callback to his royal family. As he is intended to be a young, active graffiti artist, his design takes inspiration from the video game Jet Set Radio as well as the animated movie Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. Both sources having strong ties to the art of spray paint. An additional feature I wanted to add was his pet cat, Nedjem. To me, a mummy living in a contemporary setting having a mummified cat as a pet made reasonable sense.

Helvetica
One of my earliest character designs. Helvetica is a shy, lonely, reclusive vampire. For a character I consider to be a bit "moodier" I went with a relatively simple color scheme to communicate this idea: A series of light blues and grays just desaturated enough so that the colors still have a signature vibrance to them. Her skinny stature and pale skin were meant to convey a sense of her being something of a weak anemic, with baggy eyes to also represent an unhealthy lifestyle not apparent to the audience.

E
E is a harpy modeled after a Sulfur-Crested Cockatoo. Her name is derived from the "E" shaped design on her shirt. (This also stems from the fact that she can not speak, and could not give herself her own name.) The idea I had when designing her was a harpy left to be raised by actual cockatoos in a city park. Therefore, I wanted certain aspects of her design to reflect this: such as her ripped shirt, or her very tanned skin from living with minimal shelter. Looking back at her inspiration, I also wanted her to come off as a very cheerful character. Her color scheme is made up of shades of yellow and white, and is given wide eyes and a small, beak-shaped smile.
